Mercer High School Overview

MHS5f

Mercer High School serves autistic, multiply disabled and emotionally disabled students ages twelve to twenty-one. The school provides a structured environment with a comprehensive curriculum and behavior management system to offer maximum support to the students. Physical, occupational, speech and language therapies, and individual counseling are available to students based upon their individualized educational programs.

The philosophy of the school is to provide comprehensive educational opportunities that acknowledge the diversity of the student's academic, vocational and social needs in preparation for the future and the world of work.

About our Program

MHS offers three curricula: academics, vocational and daily living skills; due to the diversity of the physical, medical and educational disabilities of the students. We work closely with the local districts and parents to plan for our student's needs.

Vocational programs include: building and grounds, computer repair, food service, office skills, pre-vocational workshops and work study programs. Students also have the opportunity to share time with Assunpink and Sypek Vocational Schools as well as their local school districts.

Community based instruction, portfolio assessment, technology and augmentative communication are important parts of our program.
